The 60's
Through the 60's, Ajax Rotary continued to grow and expand in its commitment to serve the local community, as well as assist with many projects outside Ajax
1961:
$1,000 was donated towards the construction of the Ajax Memorial Swimming Pool.
1961-62:
The Club pledged $3,000 to the Ajax-Pickering Hospital for much needed Physiotherapy equipment.
1963:
The Club presents a television set to Fairview Lodge in Whitby.
1964-65:
Ajax Rotarians collect books and magazines to forward to Ghana, for use in schools.
1965-66:
The Club donates gifts to patients at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital and to crippled children in the area.
Rotarians donate a television to the Children's Playroom at Ajax-Pickering Hospital.
1967:
$1,500 is donated to the local Library to purchase furniture for the children's area.
1967-68:
Ajax Rotary helped to raise $12,000 to purchase a Zamboni for the Ajax Community Centre.
Rotarians participate in work parties to erect eleven hydro poles, to bring electricity to Rotary Park.
1969:
Ajax Rotary donates $2,300 to purchase a heater for the Ajax Memorial Swimming Pool.
