Delta Bingo and the Rotary Club of Ajax support the Ajax/Pickering Hospital Foundation
Back in March 2019 the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation began a new fundraising campaign with the aim of raising $500,000 to buy 100 new smart pumps. Smart pumps are attached to an IV pole and are programmed with medicine dosages for the patient. Each new unit costs $5,000.
As the pump is found throughout all their departments, this was a unique chance for Delta Bingo charity funds, through the Rotary Club of Ajax, to help all of the Hospital's front-line staff have the best equipment at their fingertips regardless of which department they are working in.
The battery-powered units are mobile, allowing a patient to move around with them, and from a safety point of view it’s major for patients. There’s less chance of an error as they are programmed units, with a library of dosage information, that can alert staff when needed to ask them to double-check the dosage. It’s been a game changer for them.
