The 50's

The 50's were only the beginning of the Rotary Club of Ajax
 
1953:
Work on Rotary park begins.
$1,500 donation to newly formed Ajax and Pickering Township General Hospital.
 
1955:
Club sponsors the first "Rotary Air Day", a fun filled day of model aircraft flying.
 
1957:
Club sponsors the first annual "Rotary Music Festival" which successfully continued for more than 15 years.
 
1958:
A program of Saturday afternoon movies for local children is started.
Club donates $1,500 towards the construction of the Toronto Crippled Children's Center.
 
1959:
A program is started to donate Christmas gifts to the Whitby Hospital patients, Red Cross and local children.
