Leadership Durham

Yes, we are a non-profit.  Community Leadership Program's (CLP's) have existed for quite a while in other communities and CDCD is spearheading starting one for Durham.

We provide participatory leadership development for emerging leaders.  Our program consists of day long learning events called "Learning Days" once per month.  These are facilitated by leaders in the field, and include topics such as Diversity training, Managing Change and conflict resolution, Meyers Briggs/leadership style, and many others including bus tours of Durham Region.

The other component is a community project for participants.  Each year, non-profits and community organizations apply for projects that our participants complete in groups.  These can be anything, however we have stayed away from simply organizing fundraisers.  This year's projects included environmental scans, marketing plans, and a feasibility study.

Our target participants, as mentioned, are emerging leaders in their profession.  We have professionals from Private, Public, and Non-Profit sector.  Since we're only in our second year, we are hoping to expand the program in many different directions.
